Introduction to Departments

On the Departments screen, you can see a list of all the departments, how many employees are in each department, who the department managers are, etc. You can also create/edit departments and assign managers to them.

Note that department managers can only view/manage the employees in their respective department(s).

1. Click the New Department button to create a new department.

2. Click the Three Dots icon or right-click on a department to access its Context Menu:

  • Click the Edit Department button to edit the department. Editing a department is similar to creating a new department.

  • Click the Clone Department button to clone (duplicate) a department.

  • Click the Delete button to permanently delete a department.

Creating a New Department

When you click the New Department button from the Departments screen, a panel on the right side will let you create a new department:

1. Give the department a name.

2. Optionally, enter a description.

3. Select one or more department managers.

4. Assign employees who belong to the department.

5. Click the Submit button to create the department.

Deleting a Department

To delete a department, right-click the department and then select the Delete option from the Context Menu.

If the department is currently in use, you will now see a confirmation popup that lists everywhere the department is referenced - including employees, behavior policies/rules, productivity profiles, monitoring profiles, access control policies, etc.:

1. You can also enable the Unassign the department from all the associations above option to automatically remove all linked records. Leave it unchecked if you plan to manually reassign the associations, or if you need to preserve the links for audit and compliance purposes.

2. Click the Delete button to remove the department. You will need to provide your password/credential to ensure the department isn’t removed accidentally.

Viewing the Monitoring Reports of a Department

When you click a department’s name on the Departments screen, you will be taken to its monitoring reports screen:

1. You will be able to see the Activity Log, Alerts, Snapshots, Emails, etc. reports. The reports are very similar to the Employee's Details or the Computer's Details reports, but provide information for all the employees in a department.

2. You can edit the department by clicking the Edit button. Editing a department is similar to creating a new department.
