How to configure monitoring settings for employees and groups

Updated over a month ago

This guide outlines the two primary methods for configuring monitoring settings in Teramind: using monitoring profiles to manage groups of users, and applying custom profiles for individual employees.

Method 1: Changing Monitoring Settings for a Group

Monitoring Profiles allow you to apply the same configuration to groups of employees, departments, computers, or Active Directory groups.

You can do so from the Configurations > Monitoring Profiles screen:

1. From the main menu, navigate to Configurations > Monitoring Profiles.

2. Click the New Profile button (Note: If you want to edit an exiting profile, click its name. Follow from Step 7 to continue).

3. From the Who to track field, select employees, computers, departments, and or Active Directory groups.

4. In the Name field, enter a name for the profile.

5. Optionally, enter a description in the Description field.

6. Click the Submit button. You will be taken to the Edit monitoring profile screen.

7. Click the Toggle button next to the desired monitoring channel (e.g., Screen Recording, Geolocation) to turn it on/off.

8. Click the Edit button next to a channel to access its detailed settings. In this example, we want to edit the settings of the Websites channel.

9. Change the settings you want. In this example, we just adjusted the Monitoring Schedule.

10. Click the Submit button when done.

Method 2: Changing Monitoring Settings for a Single Employee

You can configure unique monitoring settings for a specific employee directly from their monitoring profile's Monitoring tab:

1. Select Employees from the main menu.

2. Select an employee by clicking their name. You will be taken to the employee's details screen.

3. Click the Edit Profile button. A panel will open on the right-side of the screen.

4. Select the Monitoring tab.

7. Click the Toggle button next to the desired monitoring channel (e.g., Screen Recording, Websites) to turn it on/off.

8. Click the Edit button next to a channel to access its detailed settings.

9. Change the settings you want. Click the Submit button when done.

10. Click the Apply changes button to save the monitoring settings.

When you change an employee's monitoring setting individually, a "Custom profile" is automatically created and assigned to the employee. A custom profile will override any other group monitoring profile(s) the employee may be part of.
