Before performing an update, it is highly recommended to take a snapshot or backup of your server. This precaution ensures that you can roll back to a previous state if any issues arise during the update process.
You can get the latest update image from the Self-Hosted Portal:
1. Select the Download tab from the Self-Hosted Portal.
2. Scroll down to the Step 2. Download Packages section and click the download button under the Teramind Update section.
3. Login to your Teramind Dashboard and then select My Account from the main menu.
4. Scroll down to the Software section. You will see the current versions of the TMU server, schema, etc. listed here so you can verify the update afterwards. Click the Update Teramind button. You will be taken to the Update screen:
5. Click Choose File and select the .tmu file you downloaded.
6. Click Update Teramind. Re-enter your admin password if prompted. The upload starts and a progress bar shows the current progress. Do not close or navigate away from the tab during the upload and installation - the browser will warn you if you try:
7. (Optional) Click Cancel Upload if you need to abort while the file is still uploading. Once the upload finishes, cancellation is no longer possible.
8. When the upload completes you'll see "The package is staged. The server restarts its services from here; this page reloads on its own when it comes back." The server then installs the update automatically, the live status of each step is shown, and restarts its services.
Once finished, "Update installed. Reloading…" appears and the page reloads itself after a few seconds. Verify the new versions under My Account > Software section. If the update fails, a "The Teramind update failed" error is shown, retry or contact support.
Note that updating the main server (Master node) this way will also update any associated/slave nodes (app nodes, OCR screen mining nodes, screen mining database nodes, BI nodes, etc.). However, updating the server will not update the BI classification package. To update it, follow the instructions in this article.
