What is your data retention policy? How long is my data kept? How can I export my data?

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Teramind Cloud

Customers get six months of storage for screen recordings. Longer data retention (in increments of six months, e.g., 12 months, 18 months, etc.) is available for an extra fee. Please contact your Customer Support Manager for more details. Other data such as logs, user metadata, etc. are kept for as long as your account is active.

Data Deletion: In Cloud, you can delete screen recordings from the dashboard. You cannot delete activity logs to ensure the immutability of forensic evidence. To delete this data, you must submit a formal request to [email protected]. You can adjust your monitoring profiles to "exclude" certain apps or sites to prevent that data from being collected in the first place. Check out this article to learn the recommended monitoring settings to minimize data capture.

On-Premises/Private Cloud

Teramind On-Premises and Private Cloud (e.g., AWS, Azure) customers can implement their own data retention policy. They can also specify how long the screen recordings are kept.

Data Deletion: You can adjust retention settings for screen recording, email attachments, etc. Check out this article to learn how. Furthermore, because you have direct access to the databases, you can manage data deletion there. You have the flexibility to delete all data associated with a specific user or computer either manually or automatically using custom scripts at the server level. For detailed instructions, please consult the article:: How to remove user data to meet GDPR compliance (On-Premises).

Exporting Data

You can export dashboards/reports and screen recordings from Teramind. Check out these articles to learn how:

Additionally, you can use the Teramind API to export metadata for external use. On-Premises and Private Cloud customers also have direct access to their databases for raw data extraction.
