How to create a behavior policy

Updated over a month ago

Behavior Policies serves as containers or folder for storing rules, helping you organize them more effectively. For example, you could create a "Data Loss Prevention" policy to store all rules related to sensitive file transfers or content sharing.

This guide walks you through the essential steps required to create a new policy.

1. From the main menu, navigate to Configurations > Behavior Policies.

2. Click the New Policy button. This action will open the Create Policy panel on the right side of your screen.

3. Enter a descriptive and clear Policy Name.

4. In the Apply Policy To field, assign the specific targets (e.g., employees, computers, departments) that this policy will cover.

5. Optionally, use the Exclude targets from this Policy field to specify any targets that should not be covered. This is useful if you applied the policy to a broad group (like a department) but need to exempt a few individuals or computers within that group.

6. Click the Submit button to save the policy.

Policy Targets Inheritance for Behavior Rules

The targets defined in the Apply Policy To and Exclude targets from this Policy fields will automatically serve as the default targets for all Behavior Rules created under this policy. You can override this default behavior for any rule by disabling the Inherit targets from Parent Policy option under the Employees tab when configuring the rule.
